~* Artistic Mother *~

I am an Artistic Mother! I have been doing Art as long as I can remember. I have incorporated doing Art in the upbringing of my daughter and it has come in handy for those last minute projects that our kids conveniently forget to tell us about. Over on "An Artful Life" Shona is giving away her book "the Artistic Mother"! I would really love to win this book!

Here is what North Light Craft Books has to say, "Get inspired and get creating! Trudy Callan is organizing a group to go together through the 12-week art course in Shona Cole's new book The Artistic Mother. Check out her blog and join in the fun for encouragement and camaraderie as Shona guides you through making art an important part of your busy life."

I am joining the group!

  1. I am so thrilled that you are joining The Artistic Mother's Group. Thanks for the shout out.

Each week do a post of your progress as you go through the book. Please either include names and links of all of the participants in each week end's post; or keep them posted in your side bar, coming to my blog for new participants to update your list; or to make it simpler, you can just put a link to my blog and just state in your post that they come here to see a list of all participants if they want to visit around and see everyone's progress.

If you wish to post the links each week, an easy way to do that is to go to your "Edit Post" section and copy the list of participants' names with their links from a previous post, then just paste it into your new post. Then all you have to do is add any new participants to that list after checking here for additions. I think that's how I'm going to do it. Let me know if you have a better solution to make this easier for everyone.

Other things to be doing before we get started: Buy the book if you haven't already, start reading it, start gathering a stash of papers: newspapers, magazines, flyers, ticket stubs, scrap booking stickers, etc., to be used in future projects. The first project will have us making background papers.

I am signing up as follower and putting you on my blog list so I can know when you post, and I am adding your name to the list right now.

Again, I am so glad you could join us. See you on March 6th, our launch date.

Note: Due to copyright laws, we are not allowed to do tutorials or step-by-step photos of the projects on our blogs or take photos of the pages in the book and post them. You may post a photo of your version of the project and talk about your experiences and feelings relating to it.

Also, if you are doing this project with a friend, each person must have their book unless you are doing it together under the same roof. No photocopying of the book, please.

  5. Thank you for a great book suggestion Kathryn! My mom was not a creative mother, but a super hard working mother. Sometimes I wish we could have had more time to make things together. But it's never too late! :)

  8. In the midst of the craziness of life, remember to carve out some "you time," a little "mother culture," and make something lovely each day to nurture your own soul, and then you will have more to offer to others and prevent burn out as well. And don't forget that The Artistic Mother's Art Group can help with that. I find that the group is helping me to balance life, motherhood and being artistic.

I'm so glad you are a part of our group, and I look forward to seeing your versions of the projects we are all doing together in The Artistic Mother by Shona Cole. Please let me know if there is ever anything that I can do for you or if you ever have any questions.

    May God bless your day.
