Although I volunteer anytime I can for DeafHope, this time we are getting a reward too. We will be able to use the volunteer hours for the Disney Give a Day, Get a Day campaign! So Awesome!

All the Mosaic Hearts that are made will be kept by DeafHope to be auctioned off at their Annual Gala event Glimmer of Hope

I will be sure to take some pictures and share the exciting day with you all tomorrow! Have a wonderful Saturday!

~* Family of Artists*~

I don't know about your family, but I have been doing Arts & Crafts as long as I can remember. My grandmother use to have this warming tray that she would put paper on and we would draw with crayons, it would always make the neatest pictures. My grandmother use to make many different things from Carousel horses to Lamp shades. I so wish I had pictures of her doing these things or even just a picture of her hands.

My Aunt Penni was also Crafty! I remember making the fabric photo albums with her when those were hugely popular. We made them for any and every occasion. This is when I fell in love with the glue gun. Again...where are pictures of these joyous occasions??

I have always encouraged my daughter to do Art. She has done Scrapbooks, worked with Poly Clay and loves to bake. Since the semester has ended, she FINALLY was able to bring home her works of Art from Ceramics 1 class. The are so Beautiful and I have put them on my desk so that I can view them everyday! Now the new semester has started and she is in Ceramics 2 and Culinary Arts 2. She has taken 3-D Art and also an Interior Design class. Anything to be creative! I am so looking forward to her new creations!

~* Teaching ASL *~

Today, was my first day of teaching ASL at an Elementary School as part of their After-School Enrichment program. I was ready, as I had worked on the Lesson plans a few days ago, but I was still nervous. I have tutored adults before, but always on a one on one level. Being in the classroom and seeing their eager faces, was so AWESOME! I can wait to do it again next week!

I taught them the Alphabet and a few "Baby" signs. I am sharing the Alphabet with you too! Enjoy!

~* And the WINNER is..... *~

Oh Yes, I have a winner for my Blogiverary Giveaway!

But first we interrupt this Blog Post with a Special Request from the Blog Owner!

I Volunteer and donate some of my Art to a Non-Profit Organization called DeafHope. If you have been reading my blog for the 2 years that it has been up, you have heard me mention this before when I made a Bracelet for one of their Fundraisers. DeafHope needs YOUR help! Do you have Facebook? Almost everyone does!

I am sure you have heard that Chase is giving one Charity a MILLION dollars!! And it just so happens that DeafHope made it into the 2nd round to be one of these Charities! Here is a little background...

DeafHope is a nonprofit organization, established for and by Deaf women in January 2003. DeafHope’s mission is to end domestic and sexual violence against Deaf women and children through empowerment, education and services. DeafHope was one of the top 100 charities in Round One of Chase Community Giving.

This Organization is very near and dear to my heart! I hope you will take a moment to VOTE! And perhaps you will take the button on my sidebar and post it to YOUR blog!

And now we return to our regularly scheduled program.....

Oh Yes, I have a WINNER for my Blogiversary giveaway!

~* The Breakfast Nook *~

I knew that when I moved into this house that I wanted a Black Pub Style table for this "Breakfast Nook" area, which is at the end of my Kitchen right before you enter my Studio. I have 3 of these Bar Stools that my Brother had given me and I LOVE them! I had looked on Craigslist for something like this.

But everything on Craigslist was a bit more then I wanted to spend. Then right after I moved into the house, I got a FreeCycle email stating a Black Pub Style Table would be left near the garbage can of some Apt. complex 4 towns away at 6 AM! I immediately emailed the person and told them I could come RIGHT NOW! Nope, gotta wait for the AM...sorry I was not buying it. So I waited.

Then of course I joined up on this Challenge and can't buy anything. Recently, I received another email regarding a Pub Style Table. The email said it was Brown, Square and a little beat up. I responded that I would like to come take a look at it. When I arrived at the house, it was on the curb, disassembled waiting for me. So I got a Pub Style Table...YEAH! Not at all like the one that I really wanted, but what do ya want for FREE!! That is right the email came in from FreeCyle again and was in MY town! So I am definitely within the Challenge guidelines!

I am thinking I will refinish it this Summer and paint it Black. Then if a Round one ever becomes available...I will FreeCycle this one and take the Round one, but for now I am happy with this table. Thanks FreeCyclers!!

~* The Erosion Bundle Project *~

I found a cool project that pique my interest over on Aileen's Musings called The Erosion Bundle Project. I thought this was a very alluring project and I am excited to participate too! So I buzzed around the Studio, compiling my treasures. Here are some of the goodies in my Bundle:

Fabric Swatches
Wine Corks
Lace
Alphabet Cards
Decorative Paper Scraps
Faux Gold Necklace
Silver Beads
Metal Scraps
Puzzle Pieces
Admit One Tickets
Faux Coins
Cardboard Pieces
Laminate Samples

Just to name a few!
Now for the task of figuring out how I was going to keep it all together. I wrapped all of the goodies with White Tulle, carefully tying it with a piece of string; adored with a "Love" bead.
Next, I wanted to still be able to Observe the Erosion process, so I placed the Tulle package in a "Cuties" (you know the tiny oranges) bag. I love that I am also able to recycle with this project. I wonder if the Red bag will affect the rest of the goodies as the Erosion process takes place...we shall see!
Now where to hang the Bundle? Oh yeah, OUTSIDE!!! I hung mine outside on Friday, January 8, 2010! As I was looking out my Studio window, I spotted the perfect place. You see in my new house, I have a BEAUTIFULLY Landscaped backyard. Here is the Fabulous Bird House that I lovingly hung my Bundle from. (I hope it stays!)
Everyday I can look out my Studio Window and watch the Erosion process happening! What fun! Hopefully it will stay there for the duration of the project. It is not too late to Start! You can make yours today!
